Ancistrochilus rothschildianus is an epiphyte found in Africa at 1500 to 4000 feet and where there is a pronounced dry season from December through February. During this dry season it will lose many of its leaves and will start blooming as it enters the wet season. The bulbs look similar in shape to Hershey's Kisses. At the end or the dry season, the flowers appear from the base of the mature, leafless pseudobulb with up to four, 3" flowers and a spicy fragrance. These are blooming size
