Epidendrum radioferens is found at elevations of 4000 to 7000 feet from southern Mexico to Guatemala and Honduras in wet, evergreen cloud forests . In spite of the high elevation our radioferens are thriving at intermediate temps, 50F to 90F and 2000 to 3000 foot candles of light.
The inflorescence is a hanging umbel of up to 20, 1 1/2 inch reddish flowers with a pleasing but faint fragrance. They have a ladder type of growth, ie. each new lead grows out 2-3 inches above the previous pseudobulb. These are blooming size divisions.
