Oerstedella myrianthum, aka Epidendrum myrianthum, is found in southern Mexico and adjacent Central America at higher elevations but does well for us at intermediate temperatures. It can be a large growing orchid to 3 feet but starts blooming when less than 12 inches tall. The inflorescence is quite showy and fragrant, blooming in summer. Grow it shady, 1000 to 1500 foot candles with no winter rest. These are not common in the market place and established keikis that are shipped out of pot.
