Encyclia advena has been reclassified to alboxanthina and is found in south eastern Brazil, in coastal rain forests of 1200 to 4000 foot elevations. The 2 1/2 inch flowers are a base color green with very full sepals and petals and good symmetry. This is one of the most desirable Encyclias as the blooms are relatively large, strongly fragrant and very long lasting. It is easily grown at intermediate temps and 1200 to 2000 foot candles of light. It does not require a rest but a reduction of water and fertilizer during winter. These are blooming size divisions.
